Hands-on Training in prostate MRI reading for urologists

This course will provide interactive teaching from expert faculty in prostate MRI reading and interpretation and help urologists to understand the role MRI plays in the management of patients with prostate cancer and how to use the information generated by prostate MRI. The course will address how to use an imaging workstation, how to understand the basic concepts/principles behind different MRI sequences (T2-weighted imaging, DWI-imaging and DCE-imaging), in which order to view the different sequences when interpreting prostate MRI, how to use the PI-RADS scoring system to score MRIs, and finally to understand what are the standards for a prostate MRI and what quality criteria need to be fulfilled. The participants will do hands on reading and assessment of prostate MRI scans on a provided computer using realistic software, followed by a reference reading provided by expert radiologists and pathological verification.

Hands-on Training in PSMA/PET image reading for urologists

This course provides training in PSMA-PET imaging for prostate cancer. The unique aspect of this course is that attendees will actually learn to look through the imaging themselves on workstations provided to them. The course aims to help participants understand the role PSMA-PET imaging plays in the management of patients with prostate cancer and how to interpret the images. In particular, the training addresses how prostate PSMA-PET imaging works in the most prevalent clinical scenarios it is indicated, like initial staging and re-staging at recurrence, and the implications that PSMA imaging has in the clinical practice (i.e. in clinical decision making or modifying management of patients). The current limitations and pitfalls of PET imaging will be critically assessed and discussed.

Hands-on Training in TP Biopsy and MRI fusion

This course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of office based transperineal (TP) biopsy techniques in local anaesthesia. It includes the integration of MRI fusion technology into daily clinical practice. Participants will begin with an introduction to the importance of TP biopsy and detailed instructions on performing the procedure by themself.

The hands-on training sessions are the core of the course, where participants will practice the following, supervised in a step-by-step fashion by dedicated experts in the field:

  • Basics of superficial local anaesthesia
  • Deep periprosthetic block
  • Biopsy taking
